Gopher Tortoises, Scrub Jays and Bald Eagles are local inhabitants that may find themselves in the path of development. The US Fish and Wildlife Service provides lists of these plants and animals for public use. Palmer Biological has received training and certifications through the Florida Wildlife Commission to perform tortoise burrow surveys, acquire appropriate permits and relocate the tortoises out of harms way.

Wildlife Surveys / Tortoise Relocation

Prior to clearing a site for development, regulatory agencies may require a wildlife survey of the land. Wildlife surveys are done to determine if Species of Special Concern, Threatened Species, or Endangered Species inhabit the site. If these plants or animals are present, the developer may be required to relocate them, or provide compensatory mitigation to offset the impact.
