Wildlife Surveys / Tortoise Relocation

Wildlife Surveys

Before clearing a site for development, regulatory agencies may require a wildlife survey of the land. Wildlife surveys are done to determine if federal, state or local listed species inhabit the site. If these plants or animals are present, the developer may be required to relocate them or provide compensatory mitigation to offset the impact. Palmer Biological Services, LLC has completed many of these surveys throughout Florida. From large commercial projects to residential lots, no job is too big or too small for our team.

Relocation

Gopher tortoises, scrub jays, and bald eagles are local inhabitants that may find themselves in the development path. The US Fish and Wildlife Service provides lists of these plants and animals for public use. Palmer Biological Services, LLC staff has received training and certifications from the Florida Wildlife Commission to perform tortoise burrow surveys, acquire appropriate permits, and relocate the tortoises out of harm's way.
